Great Things Ahead for City of St. Louis!
We at RE/MAX Results had the pleasure of being addressed by Mayor Francis Slay of the City of St. Louis on Feb 13, during the beginnings of a new snow storm! Things are looking good! 37% of the people moving INTO the city of St. Louis are over 50 and 33% of those moving into St. Louis are under 30. They are seeing more singles or older empty nesters. The population is currently at 353,000 and rising for the 4th year in a row!
St. Louis was recently awarded the Livable Communities Award which is an International Award for Urban Renewal!
First of all, there is over $4 billion in development on the tables right now. Ballpark Village estimated at $300+ million will have entertainment venues, restaurants by 2009. Busch Stadium will be hosting ,for the first time ever, the All Star Game in 2009!! Pinnacle Development has 2 hotels going in, one of which is the Four Seasons Hotel at $900 million! That will be quite a feather in our cap!
With 3 Million visitors a year to the Arch in downtown St. Louis, The Danforth Foundation and Great Rivers Greenway is working together to that more visitor-friendly. There will be an Arch connector...something like a flat bridge over the depressed section of Highway 55/70.
St. Louis Centre is being rehabbed to become a mixed-use facility with residential/offices and retail. Convention sales are up which helps attact jobs here as well.
Grand Center --where St. Louis University and The Fabulous Fox Theatre and Powell Symphony Hall are located--will be developing a Pulitzer Center for the Arts.
Coretex along Hwy 40 is an effort to create a Bio-Tech center with wet labsl to keep life science tech to make into an entrepreneurial effort. It's 80% full with Solei moving in. Working with Foreest Park Forever to make this jewel of St. Louis a destination location for the arts.
Other areas on the increase are Forest Park Southeast, Soulard, Lafayette Square and Gaslight Square!
