Parks & Recreation

There are many options for recreation in Eureka, especially due to the fact that Six Flags St. Louis is located in the city. The park originally opened in 1971 under the name Six Flags Over Mid-America, and is now branded as 'The Coaster Capital of Missouri.' The park contains 8 themed areas which include “Illinois”, “Studio Backlot”, “Britannia”, “DC Comics Plaza”, “Chouteau's Market”, “1904 World's Fair”, “Gateway to the West”, and “Bugs Bunny National Park.” Featured rides include the River King Mine Train, Screamin' Eagle, Batman: The Ride, and many more.

Other parks in Eureka offer a wide range of amenities. The Timbers of Eureka Recreation Center features a municipal pool and recreation center.  There is also a city-wide trail system for those looking to enjoy a relaxing walk around this beautiful city.


The award-winning Rockwood School District serves the educational needs of students living in Eureka.  The district has been awarded by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Expansion Management Magazine. The district manages the 3 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school in the city, namely Eureka Elementary School, Geggie Elementary School, Blevins Elementary School, Lasalle Springs Middle School, and Eureka High School.
